Who we are

The Malachi Antonio Memorial Fund was established to offer support and hope to grieving families. Malachi Antonio Garcia passed away at the age of two—just days before his third birthday—from an unknown virus. After extensive review, medical authorities were unable to determine the exact cause. In the wake of this heartbreaking loss, the community that knew and loved Malachi came together to provide the support needed for his final expenses. Inspired by that same spirit of generosity, the fund now extends assistance to other families facing similar tragedies.

The corporation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code, including providing financial burial assistance for children of low-income families. Direct payments will be made to the funeral homes we partner with. No part of net earnings benefits private individuals, and the organization will not engage in any lobbying or political campaigning..

Upon dissolution of the organization, all assets will be sold and remaining funds will be donated to the organization of the remaining board members choice, however the choice must be a Texas based funerary assistance and shall be donated in the name of Malachi Antonio Garcia (The bereaved child that inspired this organization) and The Malachi Antonio Memorial Fund.

Our flagship event, 'The Cousins Festival,' will be a live music event with Austin artists donating performances, with proceeds supporting The Malachi Antonio Memorial Fund. Malachi often ran to meet other children and introduce himself as their cousin, we carry on this legacy of love and family and honor Malachi’s love that surpassed the notion of being strangers and instead created a new understanding of inclusion through cousinship!
